Kathy Mead
Principal

Mrs. Kathryn Mead is a Pennsylvania native where she graduated from Penn State University and taught home economics for twelve years before moving to Las Vegas. After entering the Clark County School District, she taught elementary school, and sixth grade reading before becoming a Literacy Strategist at Johnson Junior High School and a Teacher on Special Assignment in Secondary Literacy. Ms. Mead served as Dean of Students at Brown Junior High School before being promoted to Assistant Principal at Lawrence Junior High School in August of 2002. She served as the Assistant Principal for three years before being promoted to Principal in August of 2005. Mrs. Mead’s passion is educational research and believes in making all decisions on What’s Best For Kids. Outside of school she enjoys reading, crafts, swimming, and spending time with her dogs. If asked what she treasures most in life, Mrs. Mead would say, her family.


David Osterhuber
Assistant Principal

Mr. David Osterhuber was born and raised in Germantown, Maryland. Following High School, Mr. Osterhuber matriculated and graduated in 1988 from Montgomery Community College with an Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration; He then attended the University of Maryland and graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Transportation Logistics and Marketing. Mr. Osterhuber went back to school in 1995, following five years in the logistics industry, to pursue a Masters of Education degree in Linguistics from George Washington University focused on brain research and language development. In 1997, he and his family moved to Las Vegas and he accepted a teaching position with the Clark County School District. Mr. Osterhuber began his teaching career in Clark County at Kenny Guinn Middle School, followed by six years at Monaco Middle School. In 2001, Mr. Osterhuber received his Masters of Education degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Nevada Las Vegas and began his administrative career as Dean of Students at Monaco Middle School. In the spring of 2007, Mr. Osterhuber was appointed Assistant Principal at Wilbur and Theresa Faiss Middle School for five years before being assigned to Canarelli Middle School during the 2012-2013 school year. Mr. Osterhuber has two children. David,18, is a graduate of the Las Vegas Academy Jazz program and now attends classes at the College of Southern Nevada. Taylor, 16, is an eleventh grader at the Las Vegas Academy and is a member of the Bella Voz choir ensemble. Mr. Osterhuber enjoys all forms of outdoor activity, conversations with friends and quiet time with his dogs Bella and Ginger.



Kimberly Cunningham
Assistant Principal

Mrs. Kimberly Cunningham is an Illinois native. Following high school, she graduated from Arizona State University with a B.A. in Education and a minor in Business Administration. Mrs. Cunningham moved to Las Vegas in 1987 and accepted a teaching position in the Clark County School District. She taught elementary school, seventh grade reading, became a Learning Strategist at Becker Middle School, and worked at the Curriculum and Professional Development Division in Elementary and Secondary Literacy. Mrs. Cunningham served as a Dean of Students at Becker Middle School before being promoted to Assistant Principal at Canarelli Middle School. Mrs. Cunningham enjoys reading, working out, traveling, and spending time with her family.

 

 

Jill Hickmann
Dean of students

Ms. Jill Hickmann was born and raised in Southern California. She is happily married and is the proud mother of two sons. Ms. Hickmann graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, and worked on the UCLA campus for five years following graduation prior to working part-time at a small college teaching courses in college study skills and in the interpretation of primary historical documents. She received a Masters of Arts degree in Special Education from UNLV and began her teaching career in Las Vegas at Eldorado High School in 1999. Ms. Hickmann was a member of the teaching staff that opened Canyon Springs High School in 2004. In 2005, Ms. Hickmann became a Special Education Facilitator at Canyon Springs High School, followed by two years as a Special Education Facilitator at Molasky Junior High School. She received a Masters of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from UNLV in 2008, and is proud to be a member of the administration at Canarelli Middle School. Ms. Hickmann enjoys playing tennis, spending time with family and friends, and working on numerous on-going artistic endeavors at home. Her personal philosophy is that only through giving do we find true satisfaction.

 

Dawn Stridde
Dean of students

Ms. Dawn Stridde is a California native.  As her father was in the navy, she was fortunate to live all over the United States.  Upon graduating from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a degree in Elementary Education, she relocated to Las Vegas.   After entering the Clark County School District, she taught reading and English in middle school for 21 years before becoming a learning strategist.  While teaching she earned two Masters Degrees, one in Library Science and the other in Administration.  She was just recently appointed to Dean of Students at Canarelli Middle School.  Ms. Stridde has two grown daughters, Jillian and Jennifer, who make her very proud.  Outside of school she enjoys travel, shopping, skiing, and spending time with her family.
